Camp: SAFARI The Fishing: The fishing has been good, with the chum salmon fishing being really good. Water Levels: Healthy The Weather: Typical Alaskan weather, good some days and rainy others. Other: Bear sightings are lighter than normal.

And my own memory, along with Stef’s description of that particular day, stuck with me as the perfect representation of the SAFARI camp experience.

The “Five-Star Salmon Lodges” article (August, 2009 issue) by Jay Cassell names Alaska Wilderness SAFARI one of “six places that really stand out, even by Alaska standards.”

At times the dolphins would follow just behind our boat, jumping in the wake. Other times, jumping off the bow.
