Rainbow trout, small to large, often crush top-water mouse patterns at the OUTPOST camp.
There are many, but some of our favorite mouse patterns for teasing Bristol Bay trout (not shown in photo above) are the Morrish Mouse, Mercer’s Lemming and the Jointed (or Wiggle) Lemming.
Throw any of these patterns anywhere you might find rainbow trout in Alaska rivers – slack water, back eddies, deep pools, cut banks, staged below salmon… even working them across fast-moving riffles can draw explosive top-water strikes!
Never mind… you probably won’t have any fun doing this.
